Teething 101

The past two days around here have been pretty fussy. Isaac's first tooth broke through a little over a week ago and his second tooth is close to breaking through now. Poor little fella...he has been miserable. He woke up thirty minutes into his second nap yesterday and fussed off and on for forty-five minutes. He never got cranked so I let him work it out...he finally fell back asleep and slept SOUNDLY for another thirty minutes.

Both Isaac and Kathryn usually take three naps a day. The first and second naps usually last 1 1/2 to 2 hours. The third nap is a 30 minute cat-nap to get them through the evening. Well, yesterday's cat-nap never happened for Isaac. He was too uncomfortable to relax and fall asleep. With his rough second nap, he was exhausted by dinner time last night. But he made it through dinner and actually had fun during his bath. After some discussion with Jonathan, we decided it would be best to give Isaac some Tylenol before bed to help with his teething discomfort. He was out like a rock after nursing for five minutes! (Poor guy!)

Today, I decided to continue the Tylenol every four hours and it has helped some. He is fussier than usual, but hopefully he will return to his jolly ol' self once this second tooth surfaces. (No sign of any pearly whites for our little girl...THANK GOODNESS!)
