We Survived!

We are back from our long weekend in Boone (actually Banner Elk), North Carolina. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate as far as skiing was concerned, but...the kids did GREAT!! I still cannot believe how well they did on the drive up (roughly 2 hours and 45 minutes), sleeping the first night (even though they ended up going to bed at 9 p.m. instead of their usual bedtime of 7:30 p.m.), taking naps in the same room, sleeping through the night each and every night (bedtime back at 7-7:30), and the drive home. I also cannot believe how much we packed!! Traveling with kids is definitely a new and different experience.

Jonathan was able to snowboard on Saturday. The rest of us (myself, Pop, Meems, Isaac and Kathryn) stayed close to the unit with a few trips to the management office to use the internet and to the grocery store. We all checked out the slopes on Monday afternoon, but thought the conditions weren't that great. (It had been raining off and on since Saturday night which made everything very slushy.) Overall, though, the trip was fantastic!

Here are a few more pics...

And we're off!

"Can you believe she put us in here?"

I hope to return with a "firsts" update soon!
