Today Kathryn and Isaac saw Dr. L for their 15 month checkup. The visit went well and the kids did AMAZING with their single shot. (They only received the chicken pox vaccine as Jonathan and I have decided to delay the MMR vaccine until they are 24 months. We don't believe two live-virus vaccines should be administered at the same time.) Kathryn didn't shed a single tear with her shot. Isaac shed a few, but dried up as soon as Jonathan picked him up. I totally credit the amazing skills of Dr. L's nurse (she is SO fast), and I guess we kept pretty relaxed during the process, which I'm sure helped too!
Anyhow, here are the stats...
Isaac's weight: 22 lbs (16th percentile)
Isaac's length: 31 1/2 in (64th percentile)
Isaac's head: 18 1/2 in (45th percentile)
Kathryn's weight: 17 lbs 14 oz (<1 percentile)
Kathryn's length: 31 in (69 percentile)
Kathryn's head: 17 1/2 in (14th percentile)
Dr. L assured us that she is not concerned about Kathryn's weight (she is no longer on the "traditional" growth chart). Kathryn eats well and is EXTREMELY active. As a result, Dr. L feels she burns off much of what she consumes AND Kathryn simply has the same build as her mother, long and lean. She continues to gain weight (up a pound and some change since her 12 month visit) and since her height and head circumference are both on track, she feels Little Miss is not malnourished. In fact, Dr. L informed us that she believes both kids are doing really well and are right on track developmentally. What a way to start the day!
